Pasadena : Thomson Appointed Mayor
The Board of Directors has appointed William E. Thomson Jr. to be mayor for the next year.
The mainly ceremonial position is rotated among the board members on the basis of seniority. The mayor traditionally serves two consecutive one-year terms.
Thomson, who has been on the board seven years, represents District 7, which covers the southeastern section of the city, including Caltech and Oak Knoll.
Thomson succeeds Director John C. Crowley, who has been on the board for nine years. Crowley represents District 1, which covers the northwestern section of the city. Director Jess Hughston was appointed vice mayor.
