Northwest Reports Union Pacts
EAGAN, Minn. — Northwest Airlines said today it has reached a tentative four-year contract agreement covering its 10,000 mechanics and ground service employees.
The company also signed a contract today with the union representing 6,700 flight attendants. The attendants’ union announced earlier today that its members had ratified the tentative agreement. The agreement with the International Assn. of Machinists District Lodge 143 unifies three contracts covering former Republic Airlines workers and Northwest workers. The two Minneapolis-based airlines merged in 1986. The agreement will bring former Republic workers to parity with their Northwest counterparts.
