Bret Saberhagen Suffers Facial Cuts During Fall in New York Hotel Room
NEW YORK — Kansas City right-hander Bret Saberhagen is not expected to miss a turn in the Royals’ rotation despite needing 16 stitches in his face Monday night after an accident in the team’s hotel.
Saberhagen fell in his hotel room, suffering a cut on his forehead that required 11 stitches and another under his right eye that required five.
Saberhagen, who was at Yankee Stadium Tuesday night for the Royals’ game, has been given permission to work out as usual between starts. He was not scheduled to appear in the Royals’ series against New York, which runs through Thursday. Saberhagen is 2-2 in five starts this season.
