Firemans Fund Corp. reported earnings of $64 million for the first quarter of 1988. The Novato, Calif.-based fire, marine and casualty insurance company noted that the first-quarter results are not comparable with the first-quarter 1987 because those results included $81 million in realized capital gains, contrasted with $25 million in 1988, and a one-time $61-million pension plan gain. The first quarter 1987 net income was $209 million.
