Gillette Co., the world’s biggest razor maker, sued Coniston Partners, alleging the New York-based investment firm did not divulge enough information in a proxy battle waged to fill seats on Gillette’s board. Boston-based Gillette said that Coniston--its biggest shareholder with a 6.8% stake--failed to disclose information to the Securities and Exchange Commission involving hidden partners and other participants in the proxy contest. Coniston, known for making forays that stop short of actual takeovers, is waging a proxy battle to unseat four members of Gillette’s 12-member board at the April 21 annual meeting and have its own nominees elected.
