College Spring Sports : Perfection Revisited--Dow Does It Again

Freshman De Dow pitched her second perfect game against Pierce College this season as Moorpark crushed the Lady Brahmas, 10-0, Friday in a Western State Conference game at Pierce.
Dow had 12 strikeouts and allowed only one ball to be hit out of the infield. Dow pitched a perfect game against Pierce in March.
Dow also was 3 for 4, including two doubles and a run scored, to lead Moorpark (21-9-1, 8-0 in conference play).
Moorpark took an 8-0 lead after three innings. Malia Ouzts was 3 for 5, drove in a run and scored twice. Julie Meyers was 2 for 4 and added two RBIs for Moorpark.
In other softball games:
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 1-1, Cal State Northridge 0-3--Northridge’s 30-game winning streak was snapped, but the Lady Matadors rebounded to win the second game of a California Collegiate Assn. doubleheader at Northridge.
Cal Poly’s Scheryl Lutes scored on an error in the ninth inning of the first game. Debbie Dickmann of Northridge (42-10, 11-1) struck out seven and walked one but fell to 15-3.
In the second game, Lisa Hall’s two-run single highlighted a three-run sixth inning.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
El Camino d. Pierce, 15-13, 15-9, 15-9--Matt Bellers had 16 kills for Pierce, but the Brahmas lost a South Coast Conference match at El Camino. Pierce dropped to 13-3, 10-3 in conference play.
UCLA d. CSUN 15-11, 16-14, 15-4--Robert Samuelson had a match-high 29 kills for the Matadors (15-18, 7-10), but UCLA had too much firepower in the Western Intercollegiate Volleyball Association match at UCLA.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Bakersfield 49, Pierce 48--Andre Keil, a freshman from Cleveland High, won the 200- and 100-yard freestyle events for the Brahmas in the Western State Conference meet at Pierce.
Keil swam the 200 in 1:52.7 and the 100 in 49.7. Also for Pierce (1-4, 1-3), Kelly Clayton won the 200 breaststroke (2:28.8).
Valley 70, Chaffey 25--Dave Hale and Hario Kajona each won two events as the Monarchs (6-1, 4-0) won their fourth consecutive Southern California Conference meet at Chaffey College.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Pierce 69, Bakersfield 51--Shannon Breese and Whitney Whiteside each won two events to lead the Brahmas (1-5, 1-4) in a Western State Conference meet at Pierce. Whiteside won the 50-yard butterfly in 31.43 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:15.15. Breese won the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.5) and 500-yard freestyle (5:46.8).
Valley 78, Chaffey 38--Tracy Cordobes and Nancy Sas each won three events to lead Valley to the Southern California Conference victory at Chaffey.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Cal State Northridge 6, Cal State Bakersfield 3--Missy Conn and Nicole Gillis each won two sets to lead the Lady Matadors in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match at Bakersfield.
