‘Coeurs Flambes’
Denmark, 1986, 113 minutes , 7:45 p.m . The extraordinary presence of actress Kirsten Lehfeldt galvanizes this tale of a young woman whose traditional values often collide with the world around her. First-time writer-director Helle Ryslinge sets the weave of melodrama and comedy at an operatic pitch. The balance, though uneven, is fraught with surprise, producing a potent, emotionally draining experience. RECOMMENDED.
