Karl Malone Rallies Jazz Past Clippers
SALT LAKE CITY — Karl Malone had 39 points and 15 rebounds, and his slam dunk with 3:21 left started a 10-0 Utah spurt that carried the Jazz to a 100-93 victory over the Clippers Tuesday night.
John Stockton had 16 points and 20 assists for the Jazz, and has the top 10 single-game assist totals in the National Basketball Assn. this season. He has 62 assists in his last three games against the Clippers.
The Clippers led, 91-90, when Stockton passed to Malone for the dunk that put the Jazz ahead to stay. After a steal by Thurl Bailey, Stockton passed to Malone for another dunk and a 94-91 advantage with 2:27 left.
Quintin Dailey’s two free throws with 10 seconds left were the Clippers’ only points in the last 4:18. Dailey had 21 points for the the Clippers, and Michael Cage added 20 points and 23 rebounds.
Bailey had 22 points for the Jazz.
