Like many of us, Los Angeles County Supervisor Pete Schabarum recently filled out his income tax forms and wasn’t too happy about wrestling with what he called “the most complicated, obtuse, incomprehensible documents ever perpetrated on the public.”
But rather than just grouse about it, Schabarum persuaded his fellow board members on Tuesday to protest the new forms and to urge Congress and the President to enact a new tax reform law.
At Schabarum’s urging, the board also went on record asking each member of Congress in the future to fill out his or her own income tax return “to deal firsthand with the mischief” the tax reform legislation has created.
“Let’s include the President,” added Supervisor Ed Edelman. “And the vice president.” That done, the board passed the recommendation unanimously.
