Carl Karcher Enterprises, owner and franchiser of Carl’s Jr. fast-food outlets, announced that it has reversed a year of losses blamed on an ambitious expansion program. The company reported net earnings of $16 million for its 1988 fiscal year, which ended Jan. 25, 1987. That contrasts with a net loss of $7.1 million the previous year. Donald Karcher, president and chief operating officer of the Anaheim-based company, attributed the turnaround to a retrenchment and to the remodeling of 200 stores. Fourth-quarter earnings rose to $4.2 million from a loss of $11.3 million for the same period the previous year.
