Pace of Growth in the County
Times reportage of the defeat by Seal Beach voters of a ballot measure as a rejection of a slow-growth initiative is misleading and incorrect. It leaves the reader with the impression that the citizens of Seal Beach are against slow growth.
Your reporters evidently talked only to supporters of the measure, who had attempted to sell their proposal to the voters as a slow-growth initiative.
Slow growth was not the primary issue of the proposal. It was but one of several issues involved, and it was the other issues that brought about the defeat.
Another initiative dealing solely with local slow growth will be on the June ballot. That will give a more accurate picture of how Seal Beach voters feel about growth.
