Santa Clara city officials have given tentative approval to the construction of a new baseball stadium for the San Francisco Giants, as long as the city doesn’t have to foot the bill.
The City Council agreed on a feasibility study to construct a stadium near San Francisco Bay at the junction of Highway 237 and Great America Parkway.
The action came the same day that the “last-chance” site for a new ballpark in San Francisco was all but ruled out. The U.S. Postal Service, which owns some of the Rincon Hill land proposed for the stadium, said the parcel is “not available, for all practical purposes.”
