Secretariat’s World Record for 1 1/8 Miles Broken by Simply Majestic at Golden Gate

ALBANY, Calif. — Simply Majestic broke Secretariat’s 15-year-old world record for 1 1/8 miles with a 1:45 clocking to win the $132,100 Budweiser Breeders’ Cup Handicap at Golden Gate Fields Saturday.
Benefiting from a 12-pound advantage over Judge Angelucci, Simply Majestic pulled away for a 10-length victory.
Simply Majestic, carrying 113 pounds, paid $9.00 and $2.40. There was no show wagering since it was a four-horse field. Judge Angelucci, paid $2.20 to place.
