Karate Student Held in Beating of a Doubter

BALTIMORE — A karate student beat, stomped on and threw a man to the sidewalk after the victim questioned his knowledge of the martial art, police said.
William Roberts, 37, was in critical condition last week at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
The karate student, 28-year-old John McCloskey, was held on $250,000 bond, charged with assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon.
