Escondido Skateboarder Killed in Street

A 13-year-old Escondido boy was killed Friday when he rode his skateboard into the path of an oncoming car.
Garold W. Allen Jr., of 830 W. Lincoln Ave., was struck by a car at 7:42 p.m. in front of the apartment building where he lived, an Escondido police spokeswoman said. The boy died instantly of injuries to his head and trunk, according to a coroner’s deputy.
The driver, 19-year-old Paul Herbert of Escondido, was not cited by police.
