Northridge Swings Back Into CCAA Play
The Cal State Northridge baseball team, which has piled up 40 hits in its past two games, resumes play in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. today when the Matadors travel to UC Riverside.
Northridge (11-19 overall, 2-3 in conference play) is coming off an 11-7 CCAA win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Tuesday and a 19-15 win over Metropolitan State (Colo.) on Thursday.
Northridge outfielder Lenn Gilmore has a 17-game hitting streak, is batting .333, and has a conference-leading 10 home runs and 37 runs batted in.
Riverside second baseman Ty Murphy (.389) leads the Highlanders with a 28-game hitting streak. Shortstop Matt Beltran has a team-high seven home runs and third baseman Mike Eatinger has 29 RBIs.
The Matadors play host to Riverside (16-13, 6-3) on Sunday.
