Local News in Brief : Lake Dragged for Bodies
Los Angeles County lifeguards searched the lake in MacArthur Park without success Friday for two people who were reported to have fallen into the water from a foot-propelled, two-seat pedal boat.
Divers ended the search at about 11 a.m., a little more than 12 hours after a caller told the City Fire Department of seeing two people in the water. Firefighters dragged portions of the lake Thursday night and then called in the dive team to search Friday. That effort uncovered only a bicycle, some trash and discarded clothes.
“We have exhausted all the practical information that we have,” Lifeguard Lt. Mickey Gallagher said. “There is a strong possibility that there is no one at all.”
