Prep Baseball : Hot-Hitting Colby, Nichols Lead Estancia, 10-3

Estancia High School’s Conrad Colby, batting .577, went 3 for 3 in Estancia’s 10-3 victory over Sea View League rival Corona del Mar Thursday at Estancia.
Teammate Sean Nichols, who is hitting .481, was 2 for 3 with one RBI for Estancia (6-3, 2-1). Corona del Mar (1-2 in league play) was led by Chad Thompson, who hit a two-run double.
In other Sea View League games:
Saddleback 10, Tustin 2--Paul O’Hearn was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and a home run for host Saddleback. Jeff Blanco was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Chris Silva knocked in three more for the Roadrunners (7-2, 3-0) at Saddleback. Tustin is 6-3, 2-1.
Newport Harbor 15, University 6--Brad Zenz had two home runs, both with the bases empty, for Newport Harbor at University. Tony Wren went 3 for 3 with three RBIs for Newport Harbor (2-7, 1-2).
In the Academy League:
Liberty Christian 15, Heritage 5--Chris Buckels was 4 for 4 with a double and a triple and two RBIs for Liberty Christian at Davis Field in Costa Mesa. John Van Dyke added a two-run homer for Liberty Christian (5-3, 2-1). Heritage is 2-5, 1-2.
Newport Christian 14, Cal Lutheran 3--At TeWinkle Park in Costa Mesa, Wayne Everett and Paul Harmon went 2 for 3 to lead Newport Christian. Harmon, the winning pitcher, also had two RBIs and struck out seven. Newport Christian is 3-2, 1-1. Cal Lutheran is 1-2 in league play.
In the Empire League:
Los Alamitos 5, Loara 3--Visiting Los Alamitos took a 3-0 first-inning lead on a three-run homer by Mack Moore. Loara (4-5, 1-2) tied it with three in the second. Los Alamitos (9-1, 3-0) scored the winning runs on four walks, an error and one hit in the fourth.
Esperanza 13, Katella 6--Rick Pressel was 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs for host Esperanza (6-4, 2-1), and teammate Todd Gudat was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Winning pitcher Roger Weems (2-2) pitched four innings in relief. Jeff Yourstone had a solo homer in the second inning for Katella (5-5, 1-2).
El Dorado 8, Cypress 2--Eddie Keller went 2 for 3 with a 3-run homer and 4 RBIs for host El Dorado (9-2, 2-1). Kevin Schula (3-0) went six innings for the victory, striking out seven and allowing just one run. John Trejo drove in a run for Cypress (2-6, 0-3).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Orange 4, Woodbridge 0--Brian Smith threw a seven-hitter, striking out six for host Orange (4-5, 2-1). John Rodriguez went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and Scott McMahon drove in two runs with a double.
Trabuco Hills 11, Laguna Beach 3--Winning pitcher John Shetland, who gave up 2 hits and one run in 4 innings, helped his own cause by going 3 for 3 with 4 RBIs, two doubles for Trabuco Hills (4-2, 3-0). Trabuco Hills outhit host Laguna Beach, 20-9.
Costa Mesa 11, Laguna Hills 8--Costa Mesa’s Paul Grady hit a two-out three RBI double in the fourth inning to tie the game, at Costa Mesa. Justin Reyes hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning for Costa Mesa (5-4, 1-2) to put the game out of reach.
