Local News in Brief : Updated Community Plan
- Share via
A proposed community plan for Wilmington reaffirms what numerous other plans and studies have already said: Wilmington needs to revitalize its central business district; landscaping should separate residences from industry, and the Port of Los Angeles should pay for recreation and other public improvements.
The plan, which updates a 1970 community plan and must be adopted by the Los Angeles City Council, will be presented at a public hearing Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the cafeteria at Los Angeles Harbor College in Wilmington.
A second hearing will be held April 5 at the Banning Park Recreation Center between 3:30 and 8:30 p.m. City planners will conduct brief presentations at each meeting.
The draft plan encompasses Harbor City as well, and calls for a central shopping center and possibly an industrial park in that community.
