Protesters

I’ve grown accustomed to seeing protesters getting what they want from television news--after all, they make good moving pictures.
It pains me to see publicity seekers manipulate The Times. Your story about the Sheriff’s Department ceremony (“AIDS Protesters Carted Out of Sheriff’s Academy Rites,” Metro, March 5) gave 78 lines worth of publicity to the AIDS initiative and 10 (buried) lines to deputies who risked their lives to protect us from drug dealers.
Tell me what did John Dickenson, Victor Moore and Michael O’Hara do to earn the Medal of Valor? Your reporter apparently didn’t think their deeds were newsworthy.
