Yvonne van Gennip of the Netherlands, winner of three gold medals in the Winter Olympics, bettered the women’s 10-kilometer speed skating record by more than half a minute, finishing in 15 minutes 25.25 seconds at Heerenveen, Netherlands.
The previous record was 15:56.81, held by Grietje Mulder of the Netherlands.
Christa Rothenburger of East Germany won the 500 and 1,000-meter races, with American Bonnie Blair second in both.
