Royal 4, Crespi 1--The Highlanders parlayed three hits into a victory at Royal.
John Ward (3-0) struck out five and yielded five hits to notch his third complete-game win and extend Royal’s unbeaten streak to seven for the best start in school history.
Ward drove in James Jones with a first-inning ground out and Sean Sullivan later scored on a wild pitch by loser Dan Carroll (1-1) to give Royal a 2-0 lead.
The Highlanders extended their lead in the third when Jason Jones raced home from second base on a drag bunt by brother James.
Crespi (2-4) scored its lone run in the fifth when Ken Franco singled to score Mark Kurtz.
Taft 8, Palisades 3--The Toreadors (2-1) doubled their win total from last year at Palisades. Senior Travis Arsenault (1-0) struck out seven and yielded five hits in five innings.
Jamie Zeichick was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Zeichick singled to score Jason and Richie Shapiro to highlight Taft’s four-run fifth inning.
