What was with the logo in your “Sweeps” series of articles examining the TV industry’s periodic ratings rituals (“TV’s Month of Sweeps: Who’ll Stop the Game?” by Dennis McDougal, March 6).
A pubescent female in a 2-piece bathing suit looking through a viewfinder of a film camera on an unidentifiable pedestal? What does it mean? What is the point?
As president of Behind the Lens: An Association of Professional Camerawomen, I deplore the use of this illustration.
We are struggling hard to get women equal status behind the camera, more employment and respect within the industry. One picture like this joke undeniably changes a reader’s perspective (and conception) of professional camerawomen. Give us a break and remove the illustration as soon as possible. I really expect better from Calendar.
