THE COLLEGES : College Roundup : Seeburger Hits in 12th Straight; Anteaters Win
John Seeburger went 3 for 6, extending his hitting streak to 12 games, as UC Irvine defeated Cal State Los Angeles, 13-3, Friday in a nonconference baseball game.
Seeburger also had two runs batted in for the Anteaters (16-11-1). Stacy Parker went 4 for 5 with 3 runs scored for Irvine.
Mike Calvert pitched six innings without allowing an earned run for the victory. Calvert (1-0) struck out four.
In men’s tennis:
Chapman 9, Sonoma State 0--Miles Walker defeated Mark Woodard, 6-2, 6-1, and Olivier Amerlinck defeated Dana Bozeman, 6-4, 6-4, to lead host Chapman (10-5).
In women’s tennis:
La Verne 5, Christ College Irvine 4--La Verne won the first and third doubles matches for the victory at Christ College Irvine. Christ College Irvine’s No. 1 player, Corie Stelmachowcz, defeated Julie Bitale, 6-2, 7-6.
In the Hawaii softball tournament:
Chapman 2, Hawaii Loa 1--Chapman scored two in the bottom of the sixth to give Shelly Mahon (7-2) the victory. Sally Meyer went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Chapman.
Chapman 8, Arizona Western 2--Lisa Falskin reached base five times and scored four runs to lead Chapman (13-6).
