McMackin to Attend Arizona State

Rex McMackin, an All-City outfielder last season at Chatsworth High, announced Friday that he has made a verbal commitment to attend Arizona State on a baseball scholarship.
McMackin (5-8, 175), who batted .520 and had a 20-game hitting streak last season, was the Chancellors’ most valuable player.
“I’ve always kind of liked Arizona State,” McMackin said. “They probably have the best baseball program in the country, at least that I’ve seen.”
High school seniors cannot sign letters of intent until April 13.
