Local News in Brief : Costa Mesa : Driver, 3 Others Hurt in Crash at Intersection

Four people were injured Thursday when the driver of a Volkswagen van ran a red light at Red Hill Avenue and Baker Street, collided with a car in the intersection and flipped over into another car and a bus from the Orange County Transportation Department, Costa Mesa police said.
Officer Les Gogerty, at the scene of the 4:15 p.m. accident, said the van was traveling at about 50 m.p.h. down Red Hill Avenue when it ran the light and hit a car traveling east on Baker Street.
The unidentified driver of the van was taken to Fountain Valley hospital; the van passenger, John Pahio, 45, of Costa Mesa was taken to College Hospital. Two passengers in the bus were also taken to College Hospital.
