Local News in Brief : Iranians Protest Bombing
A group of Iranians mounted an all-day protest Tuesday in front of the Federal Building in Westwood in response to the bombing of Tehran by Iraq. Police estimated that 2,000 Iranians and sympathizers attended the rally. There were no incidents, a police spokesman said.
Iranian businesses in the Los Angeles area closed for the day in support of the protest, organizers said.
Iran and Iraq have been engaged in a protracted war, and each nation has repeatedly launched missiles at the other.
