2 Youths Held in Golf Cart Getaway With 31 Cases of Beer
Two boys were arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of breaking into the Yorba Linda Country Club and stealing 31 cases of beer, which they then hauled away in several of the club’s golf carts, authorities said.
The suspects, ages 12 and 15, were arrested at a residence in Yorba Linda near the golf course, according to Lt. Bob Rivas, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The boys, whose names were withheld because of their age, were booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of burglary.
They are also suspected of stealing food and candy, which was found scattered around the club grounds. “They almost left a trail to where they were picked up,” Rivas said.
He said the suspects apparently entered the club by removing glass from a door, then using bolt cutters to get to the golf cart storage area.
He said deputies found four golf carts abandoned near the course at 19400 Mountain View Ave., which is in an unincorporated area surrounded by Yorba Linda.
