Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Disposal of Hazardous Waste Is Meeting Topic
The fifth public meeting concerning how hazardous waste will be managed in Orange County will be held today in conjunction with the regular monthly meeting of the Tanner Advisory Committee.
California’s Tanner Act requires that each county take care of its own hazardous waste. The Tanner Advisory Committee and the League of Women Voters are conducting a series of hearings to involve the public in making decisions about how such waste will be managed.
A draft hazardous-waste management plan has been developed for public review and comment. The plan proposes policies and programs needed for effective hazardous-waste management and projects the need for treatment facilities based on the hazardous waste generated by county businesses. Public review and comments must be received by March 31.
The meeting will be in the music room of Spurgeon School in Santa Ana. For more information, call (714) 744-0543.
