Datametrics Reports Big Increase in 1st Quarter
Datametrics, a Chatsworth maker of computer equipment used by defense and aerospace companies, said its earnings in the first quarter ended Jan. 30 climbed more than 80% to $504,000, or 8 cents a share, from $279,000, or 5 cents a share, earned in the year-earlier quarter.
Revenue in the latest quarter rose 33% to $6.8 million from $5.1 million a year earlier.
The company’s earnings were boosted by $190,500 in tax benefits, compared to $123,500 in benefits a year earlier.
Datametrics attributed its improved results to money spent in 1986 and 1987 to upgrade manufacturing, equipment and management, which has made the company more efficient.
