AME Agrees to Buy Video Services Rival

AME, a leading provider of videotape post-production services for the television and movie industries, continued its expansion effort by agreeing in principle to buy competitor Manhattan Transfer and its parent company, Tape Us.
The proposed purchase price was not disclosed.
Tape Us and Manhattan Transfer, headquartered in New York, also are post-production companies that principally serve the New York market. AME, a Burbank-based concern that initially focused on the Southern California market, has been aggressively expanding in New York. In January, AME bought JSL Video Services and DB Sound Studios, two other post-production firms based in New York.
