Local News in Brief : Costa Mesa : BB Gun Damages Windows of 30 Cars
A person firing a BB gun damaged the windows of about 30 parked cars in northern Costa Mesa late Friday and early Saturday, police said.
Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Dave Walker said the police will increase patrols in the area. Repairs to car windows “can be very expensive,” Walker said, adding that a windshield can cost as much as $400 to replace and a side window can cost $100.
Police theorized that a youth probably just received an air rifle and “is shooting at anything that isn’t moving.”
“These things usually come and go,” Walker said. “We are going to be checking kids out in that area.”
