Local News in Brief : Westminster : Charles V. Smith Picked to Be Mayor

The Westminster City Council has chosen Councilman Charles V. Smith as the mayor.
Smith was elected unanimously by his colleagues at a special meeting Friday night.
Smith, who has served as acting mayor since December, succeeds Elden F. Gillespie, who died of a heart attack last month.
When Smith’s term ends in November, voters will elect a mayor.
