Atari Corp. reported a 56.5% gain in fourth-quarter operating earnings to $18.7 million and a 76.2% annual increase in operating income to $44.1 million over 1986 periods. A tax credit of $13.3 million resulted in a 29% boost in final net to $57.4 million. The results for the latest period include operations of Federated Group Inc., acquired by the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based computer software producer on Oct. 4, and reflect a pretax Federated loss of $8.3 million. The company said it expects earnings to be reduced by Federated losses through the third quarter but that Federated should achieve a break-even position for the year as a whole.
