Bet Against Celtics, and You’ll Go Broke
It surprises me that a writer who so often relates current events to those of the past still has learned as little as Jim Murray has. Why it was just a couple of championship series ago that an aging, overmatched Boston squad had just suffered one of the worst losses in its playoff history. Yet, the team rose above the debris on Manchester Avenue to add another title to a list of victims now numbering 16.
That series alone, you would have thought, would have been enough to keep Murray and Laker writers from ever burying the Celtics again. I’ve seen it enough to know, and so has Murray. You’ll go broke betting against the Celtics. If you don’t believe me, I’ll see you . . . in June.
