Local News in Brief : Harbor Official Approved

The Los Angeles City Council has voted to approve the appointment of Floyd D. Clay, a labor leader and Wilmington resident, to the Board of Harbor Commissioners.
Clay, business manager of Local 1437 of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, succeeds Kenneth Lord, who died in December. Clay, who was nominated by Mayor Tom Bradley, will assume his post Wednesday.
The five-member harbor commission sets policies for the Port of Los Angeles.
