Pope’s Latin Visit to Begin May 7

VATICAN CITY — Pope John Paul II will visit Uruguay, Bolivia, Paraguay and Peru in May on his ninth papal trip to Latin America, the Vatican said Friday.
In its first official announcement of the trip, the Vatican said the Pope will leave Rome for Uruguay on May 7 and fly back to Rome from Paraguay on May 19.
The Pope will return to Peru, which he visited three years ago, on May 15 to attend the closing session of the Eucharistic Congress attended by representatives from Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.
