The Costa Mesa City Council will vote Wednesday on whether to amend the city’s general plan to allow developer C.J. Segerstrom & Sons to build the 94-acre Home Ranch office project. The amendment has already been approved by the city’s Planning Commission. The project would eventually include 3.1 million square feet of commercial development on a site north of the San Diego Freeway, between Harbor Boulevard and Fairview Road.
Segerstrom was forced to resubmit the project to the city after a Superior Court judge ruled that the city’s environmental impact report for One South Coast Place (the first phase of the development) was inadequate and ordered a new report encompassing the entire project. The ruling resulted from a suit against the city filed by a citizen’s group.
Final action on the entire Home Ranch project is not expected until late February or early March.
