Freeze Threatens Florida Citrus

An arctic cold front gripped the eastern half of the country today, as Florida citrus growers escaped one threat only to prepare for even colder temperatures.
Frost and freezing temperatures before dawn stretched across northern Florida, central Gulf Coast states and into central Texas. The temperature in Chicago fell to 6 below overnight, while nearby suburbs reported a low of 11 below. In Lone Rock, Wis., a town of about 600 in the southwestern part of the state, the overnight low was an unofficial 34 degrees below zero.
