Nine members of the United States Olympic Site Selection Committee toured the San Francisco Bay Area during the weekend and gave encouraging words to those who hope to host the 1996 Olympic Games.

“The group was favorably impressed,” said Richard Harkins, an Olympic Committee member and president of the Amateur Athletic Union.

He said committee members have yet to visit the other three potential sites in the United States but noted the Bay Area has most of the required facilities.
