“Concerto for Elvis,” a 30-minute concerto based on three Elvis Presley songs already performed by the Memphis Symphony and Los Angeles Pops Orchestra, will receive its world premiere as a ballet Feb. 13-14 by the Long Beach Ballet at the Terrace Theater in Long Beach. The three-movement concerto, written by Presley’s friend and associate Ben Weisman (who wrote 57 of his gold records), is based on three Presley songs he wrote--”As Long as I Have You,” “Crawfish” (from “King Creole”) and “I Slipped, I Stumbled, I Fell.” Ann Marie de Angelo, formerly with the Joffrey Ballet, choreographed the work.
