Sheriff Sherman Block on Friday eulogized four deputies killed in a plane crash near Newhall last weekend as officers who wore their badges with “pride and dignity.”
Block led more than 1,200 mostly law enforcement mourners who turned out at Forest Lawn Memorial Park to pay tribute to Capt. George Reed, commander of the Men’s Central Jail; his wife, Deputy Rosemarie Reed; Lt. Harry Parson Jr., and his wife, Deputy Therese Anne Pinocchio.
The four died Sunday when their Cessna 182 en route to Los Angeles from Bullhead City, Ariz. crashed into a fog-shrouded hillside at about 1 a.m.
The mourners came from law enforcement agencies in Beverly Hills, West Covina and the California Highway Patrol and from as far away as Banning.
