Kellogg Co. will begin building a $1.2-billion breakfast cereal plant near Memphis this year. The highly automated plant is the second-largest industrial project planned for Tennessee. General Motors Corp. is building a $1.75-billion auto plant at Spring Hill south of Nashville. The Battle Creek, Mich.-based cereal company already has a plant in Memphis that employs 700 workers.
