Alberto Tomba of Italy posted his seventh World Cup victory of the season in a giant slalom at Saas Fee, Switzerland, widening his lead over defending champion Pirmin Zurbriggen in the overall standings.
Tomba left his closest rivals, two Austrians, far behind by clocking two best heats for a total time of 2 minutes 33.42 seconds.
Guenther Mader finished second, nearly two seconds behind in 2:35.35. Helmut Mayer was third with 2:35.73.
