Woman Dies in Crash With CHP
A 23-year-old San Diego woman was killed Tuesday evening when a California Highway Patrol officer’s car, involved in a lengthy chase, smashed broadside into her vehicle at a Kearny Mesa intersection.
The woman, whose name was being withheld pending notification of relatives, was declared dead at Sharp Memorial Hospital at 8 p.m., after firefighters spent 45 minutes freeing her from the wreckage of her car.
CHP Officer Bob Cobb, who apparently was not badly injured, was taken first to a CHP office but was scheduled to be brought to a hospital for observation, said Ida Cheney, spokeswoman for the San Diego Fire Department.
