Local News in Brief : Pimp Sentenced in Killing
A pimp who was tried four times before he was convicted of killing another pimp following an argument over a prostitute was sentenced Tuesday to 18 years in state prison.
Lamaar Lane’s first three murder trials ended in mistrials when jurors deadlocked on the charges.
The Hollywood man’s fourth trial, however, resulted in a conviction when a Superior Court jury found him guilty last month of one count of voluntary manslaughter, Deputy Dist. Atty. Scott Gordon said.
Lane, 34, was sentenced by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ronald E. Swearinger to 18 years in prison, but was given about four years’ credit for time already spent in custody.
