Local News in Brief : New LAPD Press Officer
Lt. Fred Nixon, a 21-year police veteran, has been named to succeed retiring Lt. Dan Cooke as head of the Los Angeles Police Department’s press relations section.
“Nixon has had excellent ratings and was highly recommended by his superiors for his work in the department,” said Cmdr. William Booth, the department’s chief spokesman, who selected Nixon.
Nixon has held a variety of positions in the department, including patrol officer, detective and aide to the chief of staff.
