‘Bad’ Nominated for Grammy

NEW YORK — Michael Jackson’s “Bad,” his first release in four years, won a Grammy Award nomination today for album of the year and Suzanne Vega was nominated in three categories for “Luka,” her popular song about child abuse. U2, the socially conscious Irish band, also was nominated in three categories.
Joining Jackson’s record as album of the year nominees were Prince for “Sign o’ the Times,” U2 for “The Joshua Tree,” Whitney Houston for “Whitney” and Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris for “Trio.” The Grammys are voted on by more than 6,000 members of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. They will be awarded March 2 in New York.
