Ruth Remick Smothers; Mother of Comic Team

Ruth Remick Smothers, 71, whom comedian Tommy Smothers accused of always liking his “brother Dick best.” Widow of an Army major, Mrs. Smothers had two other children in addition to being the mother of the famous brother team. In Sonoma, Calif., on Jan. 3 of what was described only as “a prolonged illness.”
