Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Woman Critically Hurt by Hit-and-Run Driver
A young woman standing in the street near her car was struck and critically injured Sunday morning in a hit-and-run traffic accident, police said.
Maria E. Diaz, 18, of Santa Ana was reported in extremely critical condition with a head injury at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital after the 8 a.m. accident in the 200 block of North Gunther Street.
Police said the vehicle that struck Diaz sped from the scene and was abandoned about a block away. Police were searching late Sunday for two men seen running away from the vehicle.
